Itinerary
-
- Day 1 - During the morning of the first day the guides will familiarize the group about the agenda for the coming days and give an introductory lesson on sea kayaking. We load the kayaks onto a motor boat and are brought out to Sawmill Bay State Park. From here we paddle the incredible coastline of towering mountains and cascading waterfalls. We typically stop along the way for a lunch break and to enjoy the sound of waves lapping at the shore. Our destination for the evening will be Shoup Bay Marine State Park. A marvelous paddle along the lush coastline. (Lunch) (Dinner)
-
- Day 2 - The day will be spent exploring the upper bay of Shoup Glacier Marine State Park. We will find sea otters, seals, eagles and an impressive array of seabirds. At the head of the fjord and accessible by kayak is the face of the Shoup Glacier. Here there is also the option to hike up along side the glacier and gain stellar views from above. The campsite is one of the best in the sound! Set your tent with a view of the glacier and waterfalls cascading down all around. The guides always prepare a tasty dinner! (Breakfast) (Lunch) (Dinner)
- Day 3 - Paddling out of Shoup Bay the group will head back toward Valdez. Paddling back offers different views than seen from the ride out on the taxi. Keep your eye out for all the wildlife! We usually arrive back in Valdez in the afternoon, following our lunch break spent exploring Gold Creek State Park. (Breakfast) (Lunch)
