Guides and Interns

-The following positions are available and minimum qualifications are listed below each position. Keep in mind that these are just the minimums and our hiring standards are quite stringent. Pay scales will be supplied after resumes are received.

-Sea Kayak and Hiking Internship ( Intern ) (1 space available)

Whether you are looking for college credit or not, this internship position is going to get you into the guiding field. Motivated interns will get a taste of all aspect in guiding for Pangaea Adventures from maintaining gear, to guiding glacier day tours to assisting on extended multi-day multi-sport expeditions. The goal of an internship is to learn as much as you can in a summer so that if you show skill and confidence, you can return to become a lead guide. This is not a vacation. Expect to work long hard hours just like the regular staff. We pay a stipend!


-Lead Sea Kayak Guide

We may have lead guide positions available this year. Solid knowledge of kayak strokes, self and assisted rescue techniques and a knowledge of currents and tides are required. Lead guides must have a guiding and/or extensive teaching background. First year lead guide will start with day trips but can quickly move into kayak camping trips as they show an understanding for the local paddles. Lead guides will also have the opportunity to lead backpacking trips and glacier day hikes if they are interested.

 

 

Filled Positions:

-Office Assistant and Office Manager- (Customer Service - Program Development etc...)

We are hiring an office assistant/manager that is interested in working in the outdoor tourism industry. The position runs from May 15th through September 12th. We are encouraging the office assistant to arrive in early May if possible so they can join the training with the guides. Office assistant must be personable and willing to answer phones, sell trips, take reservations, assist with shop organization, organize groups, deal with direct customer contact, work on product development, and assist the guides with trip preparation . Prepare to work in a small office close to the owner. Office assistant should have strong organizational skills and must be highly motivated and self directed. The office is small so there will only be one to two people in the office at any given time.
Office manager position is designed to offer a motivated individual the change to work into particial ownership of the company. We are looking for someone who wants to stay involved with Pangaea Adventures for more than just one summer.

We are looking for the following skills and experience:
Typing skills, Strong writing skills, MS Word, MS Outlook, MS Excel, database software, basic website maintenance or a willingness to learn,. Basic organization skill are very important. Call for more information. First Aid and CPR required.

 


-Lead Glacier Hiking Guide


We have lead glacier guide positions available. Lead guides must have a minimum Wilderness First Responder / CPR. Glacier travel or ice climbing experience required. Lead guides must have a guiding or extensive teaching background. First year lead guide will start with day trips but can quickly move into backpacking trips as they show an understanding for the local conditions. Lead guides will also have the opportunity to lead kayaking trips and glacier day paddles if they are interested. All new guides must be willing to go through our training program upon hiring.

-USCG Licensed Captain (25 ton masters or higher)

Pangaea Adventures operates two USCG inspected motor vessels to use as water taxi's for the sea kayak tours. We are looking for 1 or 2 captains to operate these vessels from 4-6 days a week. Applicants must have a current captains license and all required certifications including first aid and cpr. Enrollment in our Drug Testing program is mandatory. Captains who would also like to guide kayak tours will have the best opportunities for this position and can make a higher wage. The captain must have an interest in naturalist interpretation. This is not a fishing boat.
