| During the summer of 1999, The Travel Channel chose Pangaea Adventures as the host company for the filming of "Lonely Planet 'Treks'". The trip depicted Kenny, the owner of Pangaea Adventures, guiding Bradley, the show host, on a sea kayak camping tour from Valdez to Columbia Glacier.
The tour was like many others offered by Pangaea Adventures. The crew experienced calving glaciers, comfortable camp sites, and tons of wildlife. They were fortunate enough to catch much of it on film including, bears, seals, sea lions, sea otters, Bald eagles, and spawning salmon.
The real star of the show turned out to be Kenny's dog Hannah. She had a wonderful time paddling through ice flows and running down quiet beaches. She was rewarded daily with great meals and lots of love!
It was a real adventure and a lot of hard work to make such a wonderful show. Special thanks goes to Amanda Appell and Neal Oppen who contributed their efforts to make sure the logistics went smoothly. Amanda cooked fine meals and even paddled the camera man around in a kayak, sometimes backwards! Neal ran the motor boat and transferred thousands of pounds of gear. Thanks you two!
There were some crazy scenes in the show. Like the opening shot of Bradley up on the ice. Don't try this one your own vacation, we took extra precautions to make sure he was safe.
