Day 1- Meet in Anchorage at 7:00 p.m. for a pre-trip briefing. We offer the first night in a hotel. The hotel offers a free shuttle from the airport.
Day 2- Meet at the hotel. Drive north to Denali. We will hike at Denali State park for part of the day. First nights camp is outside Denali National Park. Camp at a local campground.
Day 3- Climb aboard one of the National Park Buses for a ride into Denali national park. This is an all day activity. The bus ride is the only way into the park. Cross your fingers for clear views of Mount McKinley. We will be able to get out of the bus and go on short hikes throughout the day. Enjoy the evening camping at a local camp ground.
Day 4-We will stretch our legs on a morning hike before climbing into a raft for a day of class III-IV whitewater rafting. The afternoon will offer a chance to take an optional flight seeing tour of Mount McKinley before dinner. Same camp site!
Day 5- We drive the Denali Highway skirting the Alaska range to the Northeast. The group will take a hike en route to Tangle Lakes. Once at the Lakes we will be rewarded with 1 night of shared wilderness style cabins.
Day 6- Drive south toward Wrangell St. Elias National Park. We are going to enjoy the day rafting a beautiful class III river. Stay the night at a local campground.
Day 7- An early start to drive the famous McCarthy road. Explore the town of McCarthy and go for to the Kennicott Mine. We stay at the Kennicott River Lodge and Hostel.
Day 8- A day of hiking on the Root Glacier. Group members have the choice of either glacier hiking or Ice Climbing. Another night at the Kennicott River Lodge and Hostel.
Day 9 -Take a scenic flight from McCarthy to Chitna. The van will be waiting and we will drive south to Valdez. We spend the day en route hiking at the Worthington glacier
Day 10- We will climb aboard a motor boat and get dropped off in Shoup Bay for a day of sea kayaking at the Shoup Glacier. Spend the evening at the remote Prince William Sound Lodge located 25 miles away from the nearest paved road.
Day 11- Wake up to a hot breakfast before a morning walk . Spend the afternoon on a coastline paddle. Enjoy one more evening at the remote Lodge.
Day 12- A water taxi will bring us to Columbia Glacier for a day of sea kayaking amongst the icebergs. The area is also teaming with wildlife. The water taxi will bring us back to Valdez at days end. Camp at a local camp ground.
Day 13- We wake up early for the ferry ride across Prince William Sound to Whittier. The van will shuttle everyone into Anchorage. The tour ends back in Anchorage. We will drop you off at any hotel of choice, or you may plan to take a flight home on this last night.
