Itinerary -8 Day Whales Ice and Island Sea Kayak Camping from Whittier

This is one of our tours that actually meets in Anchorage rather than Valdez. Day 1 is actually just a meeting day and we provide the first and last nights lodging at a local hotel.

Day 1- Self Transfer to Hotel and join our meeting with the guides at the hotel at 6:00 pm.

Day 2 - Meet after breakfast for the van transfer to Whittier where we climb aboard to motor vessel for the Water Taxi ride to Knight Island. We will camp on Squire Island after a short afternoon paddle.
(Breakfast at hotel) (Lunch) (Dinner)

Day 3 - Explore Squire Island and Mummy Bay by kayak. We try to ease into this tour with a mellow first two days before our long crossing on day 4.
(Breakfast) (Lunch) (Dinner)

Day 4 - Cross from Squire Island over to Point Countless via a small group of Islands call the Pleiades. The crossing is about 4 miles total with great opportunities to see Humpback Whales. We will camp at DualHead where it is also common to see whales cruising right by the beach.
(Breakfast) (Lunch) (Dinner)

Day 5 - Paddle from our camp into Icy Bay. By now the guides will know the abilities of the group and choose the routing of the rest of the tour. A stronger group will go up to Tiger Glacier today, other groups will set camp in Nassau Fjord.
(Breakfast) (Lunch) (Dinner)

Day 6- Paddle to Nassau Fjord and to the face of Chenega Glacier. We commonly see dozens of seals pulled up on the ice and Orca Whales cruising the surrounding waters. Chenega is a spectacular tide water glacier that always gives a great show of Calving Ice.
(Breakfast) (Lunch) (Dinner)

Day 7- Today we will go for a hike to get a different perspective of the area. There are a couple great hikes in the area that offer different views.
(Breakfast) (Lunch) (Dinner)

Day 8- Paddle north to water taxi pick up. We will paddle past the Black-Legged Kittiwake rookery located in Gaamaak Cove. The water taxi will be meeting us at a beach for the ride back to Whittier. A night out on the town in Anchorage as a celebration for the successful journey. Hotel Accommodations are included. You will be responsible for your transfer to the airport. We usually all go out for an evening on the town, but be aware that dinner is not included in the trip price
(Breakfast) (Lunch)
